This document explains what our video consultation service is, what it can and cannot do, its benefits and risks, and your rights as a patient. Please read it carefully before booking. If anything is unclear, message us on WhatsApp (+57 300 646 7248) before accepting.

1. Who provides this service

The service is provided by Grupo Alivmed S.A.S. (operating as Doctor Matt), a healthcare provider institution (IPS) authorized by Colombia's Ministry of Health to deliver telemedicine services. The professionals who see you are physicians licensed in Colombia, trained and registered in Colombia.

Important: our physicians are NOT licensed to practice medicine in any state of the United States. The service is provided from Colombia under Colombian telemedicine regulations.

Doctor Matt is not a physical clinic in the United States and is not part of the US healthcare system. It is a video-based medical guidance service delivered from Colombia for Spanish speakers located in the US.

2. What this service is, and what it is not

This is video-based medical guidance for minor ailments. During the consultation, the physician listens to your symptoms, asks questions, and gives you a care plan built around over-the-counter (OTC) medications available at US pharmacies and self-care recommendations, along with the warning signs you should watch for.

What this service is NOT:

  • It does not issue prescriptions valid at US pharmacies.
  • It does not order laboratory tests in the United States.
  • It does not issue work or sick-leave notes valid in the United States.
  • It does not replace an in-person doctor or your primary care physician.

If the physician believes your case needs in-person care, testing, or a prescription medication, they will tell you clearly so you can seek the right level of care.

3. Benefits and risks of telemedicine

Benefits: access to a doctor who speaks your language, without leaving your home or workplace, and quickly, for questions about minor ailments.

Risks you should understand:

  • A video evaluation is limited: there is no physical exam, no vital signs, and no laboratory testing. Because of this, a condition may go undetected or may turn out to require in-person care.
  • Technical failures (internet, audio, video) can interrupt the consultation. If the connection drops, we will contact you on WhatsApp to resume or reschedule at no extra cost.

4. Emergencies

This service does NOT handle emergencies. If you have chest pain, difficulty breathing, heavy bleeding, signs of a stroke, seizures, severe dehydration, or any other urgent condition, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room BEFORE contacting us.

5. Minors

We see minors (from roughly 1-2 years of age) only when a parent or legal guardian with authority to make healthcare decisions for the child:

  • (a) gives this consent on the child's behalf,
  • (b) states their relationship to the child, and
  • (c) remains present for the ENTIRE video consultation.

We never see a minor who connects alone. Babies under roughly 1 year of age, and any child showing warning signs, should be seen in person by a doctor or at an emergency room, not through telemedicine.

6. Privacy and personal data (Colombian Law 1581 of 2012)

Your health information is sensitive personal data. By accepting this consent, you expressly authorize Grupo Alivmed S.A.S. to process it in order to: provide the service, record your medical chart (a legal obligation in Colombia), and contact you about your consultation.

We do not sell your data or use it for advertising. You may exercise your rights to access, update, correct, or delete your data, and to revoke this authorization, by writing to [email protected]. The data controller is Grupo Alivmed S.A.S. You can find more detail in our Privacy Policy.

7. Your responsibilities

  • Provide truthful, complete information: symptoms, medications you take, allergies, and health conditions.
  • Tell us the city and state where you are located at the time of the consultation.
  • Watch for the warning signs the physician points out to you.
  • Seek in-person care if the physician recommends it.

8. Medication recommendations

The physician's recommendations are limited to over-the-counter (OTC) medications. The physician will explain how to use them based on the information you provide. Always read the product label before use. For children, dosing depends on weight and age, and aspirin is NEVER recommended for minors.

9. Your right to withdraw consent

You may decline to give this consent, or withdraw it at any time before or during the consultation, without any penalty. Simply message us on WhatsApp (+57 300 646 7248).

10. Record of acceptance

By checking the acceptance box when booking your consultation (or by confirming verbally at the start of the video consultation, which is documented in your medical chart), you declare that:

  • You have read and understood this consent.
  • You are 18 years of age or older, or you are the legal guardian of a minor.
  • You agree to receive medical guidance through telemedicine under these terms.
